Your eyes are under more sustained stress than at any point in human history. UK adults spend hours a day looking at screens — laptops, phones, tablets. UV exposure and oxidative stress compound it, and macular pigment density naturally declines with age. BioEyeNourish combines the macular pigment carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin with bilberry and pine bark extracts, plus a vitamin and mineral complex carrying EU-authorised claims — including zinc, which contributes to the maintenance of normal vision. Bilberry and lutein capsules with the full supporting complex, rather than a single ingredient on its own.
Why Bilberry and Lutein Work Better Together Than Lutein Alone
Lutein is the right starting point. It accumulates preferentially in the macula and lens, forming the yellow-orange macular pigment layer. But lutein on its own is a single ingredient. BioEyeNourish adds zeaxanthin alongside it for the full macular pigment carotenoid pair, bilberry and pine bark extracts, citrus bioflavonoids, and a vitamin and mineral complex where every nutrient is dosed at or above the level needed to carry an EU-authorised claim — vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, copper and manganese for protection of cells from oxidative stress, and zinc for the maintenance of normal vision.
How Other UK Eye Supplements Compare
MacuShield — lutein and zeaxanthin focused, not halal. MacuShield is a well-known UK macular carotenoid supplement. It concentrates on the pigment carotenoids without the broader vitamin, mineral and botanical complex, and it isn't halal or kosher approved.
Vitabiotics Eye Formula — comprehensive, not halal or kosher. Vitabiotics makes a well-regarded eye supplement with multiple actives. It carries no halal or kosher approval. BioEyeNourish delivers a comparable multi-active approach in vegan HPMC capsules with both.
Holland & Barrett Lutein — single ingredient, not halal. Basic lutein capsules at a low dose, with no zeaxanthin, bilberry, pine bark, zinc or vitamin and mineral complex.

How to Take Your Bilberry & Lutein Capsules
For adults only. Take 1 capsule, one to three times daily with food. The fat-soluble ingredients — lutein, zeaxanthin and vitamin E — are absorbed better alongside dietary fat, so take with a meal containing some. At one capsule a day the 60-capsule pack lasts two months.
Important: this product should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and if you take medication, unless advised by a medical practitioner.
If you also want omega oils in your routine, OmegaBalance supplies omega 3, 6 and 9. If you have a sensitive stomach and want gentler vitamin C, Bio-C provides non-acidic food-form vitamin C.

Questions We Get Asked
What is macular pigment?
Macular pigment is the yellow-orange pigment layer sitting over the macula — the central part of the retina responsible for high-acuity vision and colour perception. It's made up mainly of lutein and zeaxanthin, two dietary carotenoids the body cannot produce itself and must obtain from food. Its density varies between individuals and tends to decrease with age. BioEyeNourish supplies both carotenoids: 15mg lutein esters, equivalent to 7.5mg free lutein, and 2mg zeaxanthin.
What is bilberry?
Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is the European wild blueberry, a small dark berry that grows across northern and central Europe and one of the most anthocyanin-dense fruits available. BioEyeNourish provides bilberry fruit extract at 550mg equivalent per capsule, alongside pine bark extract at 1250mg equivalent providing 79mg proanthocyanidins. Both are included as botanical extracts within the formula.
Why is copper included alongside zinc?
Sustained zinc supplementation can impair copper absorption, so comprehensive formulas typically include both to maintain the balance. BioEyeNourish provides zinc at 5mg (50% NRV) and copper at 0.5mg (50% NRV). Copper contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, as do manganese and selenium, both included at 100% NRV.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or on medication?
No — not without medical advice. This formula should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and by anyone taking medication, unless a medical practitioner advises otherwise. If you're unsure whether it interacts with something you take, speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting.
Are these eye capsules halal?
Yes — the formula is halal approved and kosher approved. The HPMC plant capsule contains no gelatine, and the product is made in the UK. Most eye supplements on the UK market carry neither approval.
Food supplements should not replace a varied diet or healthy lifestyle. For adults only. Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and if taking medication, unless advised by a medical practitioner.
