Allergy Advice
The formula itself is hypoallergenic and contains no declared allergens. However, it is manufactured in a facility which handles cereals, egg, fish, milk, nuts, soya, mustard, seeds and products derived from crustaceans. If you have a severe allergy, please take that shared-facility risk into account.
What Hexane-Free Actually Means
Much of the commodity pea protein on the market is separated using hexane, a petroleum-derived solvent. This powder is extracted using only water, pressure and flocculation, so no hexane or other toxic chemicals are used in the process. It is one of the few points where pea protein products genuinely differ from one another, and it is rarely stated on a label.
How to Use
For best results add 1 scoop or 4 heaped teaspoons (25g) into a glass. Add water, fruit juice, soya milk or another liquid of your choice for a high-protein shake. It also works stirred into yoghurt or blended with berries.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much protein is in each serving?
18.1g per 25g serving, which is 72.2g per 100g. Each serving also provides 2.6g of fibre, 1.7g of fat, 0.8g of carbohydrate and 96kcal. There are 20 servings per 500g pot.
What does hexane-free mean?
Most commodity pea protein is separated using hexane, a petroleum solvent. This protein is extracted using only water, pressure and flocculation — no hexane or other toxic chemicals.
Is it halal, kosher and vegan?
Yes to all three — it is halal approved, kosher approved, and suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.
Is it easy to digest?
The manufacturer describes the formula as hypoallergenic, bioavailable and easy to digest, and it is high in fibre from chicory root extract. As with any high-fibre product, introduce it gradually if you are not used to added fibre.
How does it compare to whey?
PeaPro is plant-based and dairy-free, providing 18.1g of protein per 25g serving. WheyPro Vanilla provides 23.2g per 30g serving but contains milk and soya. PeaPro is the option if you need dairy-free, soya-free or fully vegan protein, and it also provides fibre, which whey does not.
