Contains SOYA. The isoflavones are soya-derived.
Vitamin B6 warning: long-term intake of amounts greater than 10mg of vitamin B6 daily may lead to mild tingling and numbness. Each capsule provides 5mg, so three capsules daily reaches 15mg — above that threshold. Do not exceed the stated dose, and speak to your GP before long-term use at the higher end.
A gentle daily food supplement formulated for women during difficult monthly cycles, and through perimenopause and the menopause. Ten botanicals — led by 800mg each of red clover and wild yam — with soya isoflavones, vitamin B6 and zinc. It contains no hormones, of the kind found in HRT medicines.
B6 and Zinc Carry the Authorised Claims
The botanicals here are traditional women's herbs with long histories of use, but traditional use is not the same category of evidence as an authorised health claim. What is regulator-assessed is the vitamin and mineral content.
Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity — the claim at the centre of this formula, at 5mg per capsule (357% NRV). It also contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal psychological and nervous system function, normal homocysteine metabolism, normal red blood cell formation, normal immune function and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction — at 2.5mg (25% NRV) — alongside the maintenance of normal bones, hair, nails, skin and vision, normal cognitive function and normal immune function.
How Other UK Women's Formulas Compare
Menopace — the market leader, comprehensive, not halal. Vitabiotics' Menopace is the best-known UK option with a broad vitamin and mineral profile. It carries no halal or kosher certification.
Black cohosh capsules — single herb, THR route. Many black cohosh products are registered traditional herbal medicines with their own permitted wording. BioFem does not contain black cohosh.
Own-brand red clover — one botanical. Inexpensive single-herb capsules with none of the supporting botanicals, vitamins or minerals.

How to Take It
Take 1 capsule, two to three times per day, preferably with food. Do not exceed three capsules daily — at 5mg of vitamin B6 per capsule, three capsules provides 15mg, and long-term intake above 10mg daily may lead to mild tingling and numbness.
This is a gentle food supplement, not a medicine. It does not work overnight — depending on the individual it can take weeks or longer before any difference is noticed.
For fluid and electrolyte support alongside, Fluid Balance also carries the B6 hormonal activity claim. For evening calm, BioSnooze.
Is This You?
- You want a botanical formula with vitamin B6 for the regulation of hormonal activity — an authorised claim, not a marketing line
- You want a supplement that contains no hormones, unlike HRT medicines
- You'd rather have ten botanicals at declared doses than a single herb
- You need halal and kosher approved women's supplements — Menopace carries neither
- You are not avoiding soya — this formula contains soya isoflavones

Questions We Get Asked
Does it contain hormones like HRT?
No. BioFem contains no hormones of the kind found in HRT medicines. The soya isoflavones are plant compounds — phyto-oestrogens — which are a class of naturally occurring organic compounds found in soybeans, chickpeas and other legumes. They are not hormones.
Why is there a vitamin B6 warning?
Because long-term intake of more than 10mg of vitamin B6 daily may lead to mild tingling and numbness. Each capsule provides 5mg, so two capsules is 10mg and three is 15mg. Do not exceed the stated dose, and if you plan to take three capsules daily over a long period, speak to your GP first. This is the manufacturer's own warning and we think it should be on the page, not hidden on the label.
Does it contain black cohosh, dong quai or agnus castus?
No — none of the three. Those are common in women's formulas but are not in BioFem. The botanicals here are red clover, wild yam, bamboo, sage leaf, schizandra berry, hops, alfalfa, Siberian ginseng, kelp and soya isoflavones. Black cohosh in particular is usually sold as a registered traditional herbal medicine on a different regulatory route.
How long before I notice anything?
It varies considerably. This is a gentle food supplement rather than a medicine, so it does not work overnight — depending on the individual it can take weeks or longer. Some people notice a difference sooner. If you see nothing after a couple of months, it may not be the right formula for you.
Food supplements should not replace a varied diet or healthy lifestyle. Contains soya. Contains kelp, a natural source of iodine. Long-term intake of more than 10mg vitamin B6 daily may lead to mild tingling and numbness — do not exceed the stated dose. Consult your GP before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescription medication including HRT, or managing a thyroid or hormone-sensitive condition.
