Two important warnings.
Contains caffeine — 50mg per serving. Not recommended for children or pregnant women.
Risk of choking for people with swallowing difficulties and when ingested with inadequate fluid intake. Plenty of water should be consumed with this product to ensure it reaches the stomach.
Most weight management supplements are a caffeine hit with a botanical label. BioBurn is built the other way round — around 1000mg of glucomannan per serving, the only dietary fibre with an EFSA-authorised weight loss claim, at exactly the dose the claim requires. Ten further botanicals and five vitamins and minerals sit around it, four of which carry authorised claims of their own.
The Glucomannan Dose Is the Point
The EFSA claim is specific: glucomannan in the context of an energy-restricted diet contributes to weight loss, with the beneficial effect obtained at 3g daily in three doses of 1g each, taken with 1–2 glasses of water before meals.
BioBurn provides 1000mg per 2-capsule serving. Three servings a day is 3g — the claim dose exactly, not a token inclusion. Most glucomannan products deliver well under 1g per dose and cannot legitimately make the claim as worded.
Glucomannan absorbs many times its weight in water, forming a viscous gel that expands in the stomach. That is the satiety mechanism, and it is also why the choking warning matters.
How Other UK Weight Management Products Compare
Generic glucomannan capsules — dose usually below the claim threshold. Widely available and cheap, but most deliver far less than 1g per dose, which means the EFSA weight loss claim doesn't legitimately apply.
Green coffee or raspberry ketone products — single ingredient, no authorised claims. Popular but built on ingredients with no EFSA-approved weight claims behind them.
PhD / Grenade thermogenics — caffeine-led, no halal. High-stimulant fat burners aimed at gym users, typically without a fibre satiety component and without halal certification.

How to Take It
Take 2 capsules, two or three times per day with water — before meals, with 1 to 2 glasses of water each time. Three servings daily delivers the full 3g glucomannan claim dose.
Always take with plenty of liquid and never dry. Because the formula contains caffeine, avoid the final dose late in the evening.
Pair with BioSlim for additional fibre, or An Apple a Day for a caffeine-free option with chromium.
Is This You?
- You want glucomannan at the dose the EFSA claim actually requires, not a token amount
- You're following an energy-restricted diet — the claim only applies in that context
- You'd rather have a moderate 50mg caffeine than a 200mg+ stimulant hit
- You want the thyroid and metabolic minerals — iodine, zinc, chromium — alongside the fibre
- You are not pregnant, caffeine-sensitive, or managing a thyroid or heart condition

Questions We Get Asked
How much glucomannan do I need for the weight loss claim?
3g per day, as three separate 1g doses taken with 1–2 glasses of water before meals, within an energy-restricted diet — that is the exact wording of the EFSA-authorised claim. BioBurn provides 1000mg per 2-capsule serving, so three servings daily meets it. Fewer servings, or taking it without the energy-restricted diet, does not.
Why is there a choking warning?
Glucomannan absorbs many times its weight in water and expands substantially — that swelling is the satiety mechanism. Taken with insufficient liquid it can swell in the throat or oesophagus. Always take with plenty of water, never dry, and it is not suitable for anyone with swallowing difficulties.
How much caffeine is in it?
50mg per 2-capsule serving — roughly half a cup of coffee. At three servings that is 150mg daily, comparable to a couple of coffees. Not recommended for children or during pregnancy, and if you are caffeine-sensitive, avoid the evening dose. That is a deliberately moderate level compared with gym thermogenics running to 200mg or more per serving.
Should I be cautious about the bitter orange?
It is present at 40mg per serving. Bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) contains synephrine, a compound related to ephedrine, and has been associated with cardiovascular effects at higher doses — particularly combined with caffeine. If you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, or take any cardiovascular or thyroid medication, speak to your GP before taking this product.
Food supplements should not replace a varied diet or healthy lifestyle. Contains caffeine — not recommended for children or pregnant women (50mg per serving). Risk of choking for people with swallowing difficulties or when taken with inadequate fluid. Always take with plenty of water. Consult your GP before use if breastfeeding, taking prescription medication, or managing a thyroid, heart or blood pressure condition.
