Choking risk. Fibre powders that gel must be taken with plenty of liquid — at least 250ml per heaped teaspoon. Not suitable for anyone with swallowing difficulties. Never take with inadequate fluid.
Psyllium and glucomannan get grouped together as "fibre", but they behave differently and only one of them carries an authorised claim. Here is what BioSlim actually contains and what may legally be said about it.
What does glucomannan actually do?
Glucomannan carries an EFSA-authorised claim that it contributes to weight loss in the context of an energy-restricted diet — obtained at 3g daily, taken as three separate 1g doses with 1–2 glasses of water before meals.
The wording matters. The claim applies only alongside an energy-restricted diet, only at that dose, and only split across three servings. A product claiming weight loss from glucomannan without those conditions is overstating what was authorised.
One 5g teaspoon of BioSlim contains 1g of glucomannan — so the authorised intake means one teaspoon, three times daily, before meals.
What about psyllium and sugar beet fibre?
Psyllium husk is the bulk of the formula and a well-established insoluble fibre, but the claims picture is narrower than most retailers imply. The authorised claim in this blend belongs to sugar beet fibre, which contributes to an increase in faecal bulk — it works two ways, with insoluble components absorbing water in the large intestine and soluble components fermented by gut bacteria, increasing bacterial mass.
The live cultures and FOS carry no authorised claims at all, so we name them and leave it there.

180g per pot, minimum 36 servings at 5g. BioSlim is vegan, vegetarian, kosher approved and halal approved — unusual for a fibre blend with live cultures, most of which are vegetarian only.
How to take it without the common mistakes
Add 1–2 teaspoons to a small amount of water or juice — about a quarter glass. Mix in all directions until it becomes a smooth paste, then keep stirring as you top up to a full glass. Drink immediately, then follow with another full glass of liquid. Take 30 minutes before a meal, one to three times daily.
The two errors people make are mixing it thin and letting it sit, and not drinking enough water afterwards. Both matter for comfort and for safety.
Questions we get asked
Is BioSlim vegan and halal?
Yes to both, and kosher approved as well. The live cultures here are suitable for vegans, which is not true of most probiotic capsules — see our guide to why most probiotics are vegetarian only.
How much glucomannan per day for the authorised claim?
3g daily, as three 1g doses before meals with 1–2 glasses of water, alongside an energy-restricted diet. That is one 5g teaspoon of BioSlim three times a day. Some retailers quote 4g — the authorised figure is 3g.
Can I take it with other supplements?
Fibre can affect the absorption of other things taken at the same time. Spacing fibre away from medication and other supplements is sensible — check with your pharmacist if you take prescription medicines.
