The average UK adult eats around 18g of fibre a day. The NHS recommends 30g — a daily shortfall of roughly 12g that contributes to sluggish digestion, blood sugar instability and difficulty managing weight. A well-formulated fibre supplement doesn't replace a good diet; it closes the gap.
BioSlim combines four fibre sources — psyllium whole husks, glucomannan from konjac root, sugar beet fibre and inulin (FOS) — with L-glutamine, live cultures and three traditional digestive herbs. It carries two EFSA-authorised health claims.
Glucomannan is the only dietary fibre with an EFSA-authorised weight loss claim: “glucomannan in the context of an energy-restricted diet contributes to weight loss.”
The conditions of use matter. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3g of glucomannan in three doses of 1g each, taken together with 1–2 glasses of water before meals, within an energy-restricted diet.
Each 5g serving of BioSlim contains 1.05g of glucomannan. Three servings a day, each taken before a meal, meets the claim exactly as worded. One serving a day does not — and no fibre supplement produces weight loss without the energy-restricted diet the claim specifies.
Sugar beet fibre contributes to an increase in faecal bulk, and does so two ways: the insoluble components absorb water in the large intestine, while the soluble components are fermented by gut bacteria, increasing bacterial mass.
Full ingredient list: psyllium husk powder (Plantago ovata), glucomannan, sugar beet, L-glutamine, inulin (fructo-oligosaccharides), fennel seed, peppermint leaf, ginger root, bacteria blend (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum), sweetener: steviol glycosides (stevia leaf extract).
Take 30 minutes before a meal. Add 1 to 2 heaped teaspoons (5g to 10g) to about a quarter of a glass of water or juice. Mix slowly in all directions until it forms a smooth paste, then keep stirring as you add more liquid until the glass is full. Drink immediately, then follow with another full glass of liquid. Take 1 to 3 times daily.
Use a minimum of 250ml of liquid per heaped teaspoon. For the glucomannan weight loss protocol, take three 5g servings daily before meals within an energy-restricted diet.

How much glucomannan do I need for the weight loss claim?
3g per day, as three separate 1g doses with 1–2 glasses of water before meals, within an energy-restricted diet. Each BioSlim serving contains 1.05g, so three servings daily meets it.
Why is the choking warning so prominent?
Glucomannan expands dramatically in water — that swelling is the satiety mechanism. Taken dry or with too little liquid it can swell in the throat or oesophagus. Always use at least 250ml per heaped teaspoon and drink immediately once mixed.
How many servings are in a pot?
A minimum of 36, based on 5g servings. At three servings a day for the full glucomannan protocol, that is around 12 days.
Does it taste like plain psyllium?
No. It is lightly flavoured with peppermint leaf and sweetened with stevia, which most people find much easier to drink than unflavoured psyllium husk.
Is it suitable during pregnancy?
Consult your midwife or GP before taking any fibre supplement during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
